How our coverage works

Local agents, working local rounds

Home collected credit is a local service by its nature. Our agents each work a round — a set of streets and neighbourhoods they visit regularly — operating out of regional offices rather than a single national call centre. That’s why coverage is defined by postcode rather than by town or county, and why two streets a mile apart can sometimes fall on different sides of a round.

It also means the map isn’t fixed. As we take on new agents, rounds are added and existing ones adjust. An area we couldn’t reach last year may well be covered now, which is why the postcode checker above is the most reliable answer — it reads from the same records our agents work to.

From Tredegar outwards

Valleys Finance started in Tredegar in 1969, lending in the Gwent valleys where the family still lives and works. Over three generations that footprint has grown outwards: west through Merthyr, the Rhondda and on to Swansea Bay; east into Gwent and Newport; and later well beyond Wales into the Midlands, the North West and the South West of England. Each expansion has followed the same pattern — a local office, local agents, and rounds built street by street rather than a line drawn on a map.

Today we lend across four regions from a network of regional offices. Wherever you are, the service is the same: a fixed weekly repayment agreed before you borrow, and an agent who knows the area. All lending is subject to affordability and credit checks.

Coverage questions

Common questions about our areas

Why isn't my town listed?

The pages above cover our main areas, but they don't list every town and village we serve. Coverage is set by postcode, not by town, so the checker at the top of this page is the reliable answer — it reads from our live records and will tell you even if your town has no page of its own.

Do you cover the whole of a city like Birmingham?

Not usually. Our agents work specific rounds, so in larger cities we tend to cover certain districts rather than the entire area. In Birmingham, for example, we cover much of the south and west of the city along with the Sandwell and Black Country districts. Checking your postcode is the only way to be certain.

My neighbour is a customer but the checker says you don't cover me. Why?

Rounds are built street by street, and postcode districts don't always follow the boundaries you'd expect. It's possible for two nearby addresses to fall in different districts, one on a round and one not. If you think there's been a mistake, contact us and we'll check it manually.

How often does your coverage change?

It changes as we recruit agents and adjust rounds, so it's worth checking again if you've been told no in the past. The checker is updated from our operational records rather than being a fixed list.

What happens if you don't cover my postcode?

We'll tell you honestly rather than take an application we can't fulfil. You're welcome to get in touch so we know there's demand in your area — that does feed into where we look to expand next. For free, impartial money guidance, MoneyHelper is a good starting point.

Does being in a covered area mean I'll be approved?

No. Coverage only means an agent can reach you. Every application is assessed on affordability and a credit check, and approval is never guaranteed. We only lend what we believe you can comfortably repay.
